Video: Decolonising Data

June 24, 2026

We began Better Deal for Data with a mission to unlock siloed social impact data for the benefit of all humanity, rather than for the benefit of only a few. Watch Jim Fruchterman’s keynote address at the 2026 ICT4D Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, where he traces BD4D back to a conversation about data colonialism, discusses how today’s tech industry is strip mining the world’s data, and what nonprofits can do about it.
